We began our Lenten journey a mere four days ago. “Repent and believe in the Gospel”. Today, the First Sunday of Lent, our Gospel reading, from Mark, repeats these words. This time of introspection, may we be much more aware of the movement of God in our lives. May we listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and follow the good path provided for us.
We honor our loved ones taken from us and reach out to another in grief.
Recognize the joy of serving our God by being available to help others.
We have set our path toward Easter. We renew our commitment every day in our Prayer of Praise and Thanksgiving to God and our love for one another.
Bishop Baron briefly explains the 3 traditional practices of Lent.
Lent this Year
Pope Francis, in his 2021 Lenten Message suggests that this year we view the practices of prayer, fasting & almsgiving in the light of the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love.
Dear brothers and sisters, every moment of our lives is a time for believing, hoping and loving. The call to experience Lent as a journey of conversion, prayer and sharing of our goods, helps us – as communities and as individuals – to revive the faith that comes from the living Christ, the hope inspired by the breath of the Holy Spirit and the love flowing from the merciful heart of the Father."
